Dr. Jumaa Bwika
Honourable Chair
The Respiratory Society of Kenya is a professional society advancing the 2026-2035 Strategic Plan through prevention, research, education, advocacy, multidisciplinary collaboration, and policy advisory.
The Respiratory Society of Kenya (ReSoK), formerly Kenya Association for the Prevention of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (KAPTLD), is a professional organization with a membership constituted of health professionals and service providers with an interest in respiratory medicine, mainly chest medicine specialists.
ReSoK combines elected professional leadership with a secretariat that supports daily operations, programs, and technical coordination.

Leadership is provided by an elected board of management comprising mainly chest specialists, with representation from other cadres of the healthcare profession including Clinical Officers, Nurses, and Pharmacists.
The secretariat is led by a Chief Executive Officer who also acts as Technical Advisor, supported by a Programs Manager and an Administration & Finance Manager responsible for day-to-day operations.
The society's mandate is defined by the strategic plan: a clear vision, a practical mission, and PUMZI values that guide every decision.
Healthy lungs for all people in Kenya and beyond.
We innovatively promote, improve, sustain, and integrate quality lung health for all through prevention, research, education, advocacy, and multidisciplinary collaborations.
These values are the PUMZI foundation of the strategic plan and shape how the society collaborates with members, partners, communities, and the wider health system.
Partnerships keep ReSoK connected to members, institutions, and communities working toward the same lung health goals.
Understanding helps the society listen carefully and respond to the needs of professionals, patients, and partners.
Meticulousness anchors ReSoK in careful planning, evidence, and precise execution across every program.
Zeal keeps the society energetic, committed, and persistent in advancing respiratory health.
Innovation pushes ReSoK to build digitally enabled, sustainable, and forward-looking solutions.
Meet the ReSoK leadership, technical, finance, administration, and research coordination team.
